Sweets, Treats & Cereals Galore at Big 5 Quality Foods!

Daily living has become a constant battle of what cost we can cut to make way for a new expense.

Any way to save here and there is quite a blessing, especially at a time when even the cost of groceries gives you heart palpitations.

So I thought what better way to kick off this blog then to introduce you to savings you can enjoy in your daily life.

The deal spot that I'm highlighting today is Big Five Quality Foods. They are based in Durban North and sell everything from cereals to sauces and baking supplies.

This shop is situated in a quaint little centre, almost hidden away. Inside, the store is just filled with rows of products and they even have little shopping baskets to carry around for your haul.

The great thing about Big Five Quality Foods is that you could buy a popular kids cereal which usually costs around R25 for 400g, at a lower price of around R12 or R15. The only difference is that these cereals do not come with their original boxes, just plain packaging.

There's also the 500g corn flakes, which usually sell for around R30, which the Big Five retails for around R15.

They also retail popular sauces and spreads, with a 500ml bottle that usually retails for around R20 to R25, going for R15.

Biscuits and sweets are quite affordable, sometimes even costing half the price you would pay at a big store. We picked up a 500g pack of choice assorted biscuits which are around R25, selling at R15.

There are occasions where one or two biscuits in the packet would be broken, but otherwise there are no faults with the product in terms of expiry and freshness.

The same goes for dried fruit, rusks, baking goods and porridge. None of these items are expired or are going to expire soon. So everything is safe for consumption.

In our daily living we probably spend a lot of money on cereal for the kids, porridges, oats and rusks for ourselves, and then biscuits and chips for the family to snack on. We also buy these items at least every 2 weeks, depending on the size of your family.

So imagine how much you'd be saving if you chose to buy these items in the plain packaging at almost half the original price.

If we look at just the items above, you would have saved around R10 on the kid's cereal, R15 on corn flakes, R10 on a bottle of sauce and R10 on the biscuits; a total saving of R45. That's enough to buy at least 4 loaves of white bread.

I live by the motto that every cent counts, so I hope that you'll add this store to your list of must-shop-places.

You can find the Big Five Quality Foods at 208 Kenneth Kaunda Road (old Northway Road) in Durban North or visit their Facebook Page.

Happy Shopping :)
